Learn more on Life at Now blog and hear from our employees about their experiences working at ServiceNow.Job DescriptionVice President Security Platform EngineeringReporting to the SVP of Platform Engineering responsible for ServiceNow's technology platform including services and infrastructure, this executive will lead a development team of ~75 spanning Santa Clara, San Diego, and Hyderabad.This individual will be a high potential technology leader who understands technical and business realities and can articulate both a near-term action plan and a long-term vision and exert positive influence on the rapid achievement of milestones. The VP Engineering will have a track record in the delivery of software products with proven experience in building, managing and motivating a strong distributed team of web developers and software engineers responsible for developing and deploying web-scale, SaaS-based solutions according to customer and business requirements. This role will have visibility at the senior executive levels of ServiceNow and manage key mission critical programs that impact the division and other teams across the company. This leader must be a true cultural evangelist who will advocate for both the division and company's forward-looking transformation.Central to this role will be helping to support ServiceNow's charter to transform the business applications industry by focusing on:Developing and deploying SaaS Applications, and incorporating the resulting best practices across the organization.Coaching and mentoring a first-class development team to maintain current product velocity as the company scales.Asses the engineering team and make any necessary adjustments to fully align organizational goals with core competencies.Key requirements and accountabilities for this role include:A thorough understanding of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) stemming from both application and web scale company experience.Experience with complex architectures and helping make technical trade-offs.Technical depth in the areas of datacenters, network architecture, management protocols, and front-end development.Strong underpinning of data infrastructure concepts as it relates to leveraging high performance cloud systems.Values and has experience with implementing lightweight engineering processExperience building a SaaS application product utilizing a combination of modern DevOps tools (Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, JIRA, Bamboo, etc.)Experience working with centralized SaaS platform teams (common components / microservices architectures)Demonstrable leadership experience inspiring and motivating globally distributed teamsExpert knowledge of the Agile methodologies, benefits and pitfalls, and how to manage expectations with non-technical managersEstablish and maintain solid, repeatable, and scalable software engineering and project management practices specific to DevOpsThorough understanding of security principles in a SaaS environment, what it takes to secure data, and how to communicate security concepts to customers and stakeholdersDrive all aspects of recruiting including, but not limited to, attracting great talent and retaining a highly skilled, proficient engineering teamAbility to communicate complex topics to multiple audiences in order to generate a common roadmap between sales, marketing, product management, and engineeringQualificationsVisionability to look forward and see where trends are headed and envision how problems need to be solved.Critical assessment capabilityability to maintain a very high bar and drive excellence in work products, services, hiring, etc.Highly motivated and passionate overachieverSuperior ability to communicate at all levels, in all disciplines with the highest level of integrityMetric-driven leader with excellent analytical skills and an ability to identify trends / anomaliesAbility to think strategically while maintaining focus on results and executionSuperb business judgment and ability to think through complex business issuesAbility to motivate others both within his/her organization and beyondAbility to take tough but reasonable positions when necessary with employees, clients, suppliers, etc.A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
