Perspecta's Civilian, State and Local segment partners with the U.S. Federal Civilian State and Local governments to provide infrastructure services, business solutions, and digital transformation services that help them achieve policy objectives and integrate citizen-centric services.
Our Program is looking for a Technical Writer with exposure/knowledge of Security/Information Assurance to produce or update content to high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our security program products. The individual will join a team of talented security professionals who work collaboratively with our government and contracting team stakeholders, engineers, security managers, and senior leadership.
The Technical Writer/ISSR will translate complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications, such as technical procedures, government policy documents, technical journals and user guides (Risk Vision environment). They will gather information through research, statistical reports and interviews with government and technical staff. Technical writer may also be asked to maintain the existing body of program documentation to bring all required programs document up to date.
Responsibility: Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements. Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience. Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides. Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications. Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities. Create and maintain documentation for the Program.
Desired Requirements: Proven working experience in technical writing of software and system documentation. Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail. An understanding in RMF security platform. Experience in writing documentation for IT systems PMO, security background a plus. Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures. Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development. Serve as the Information Assurance Section consultant for the A&A and Continuous Monitoring processes. Providing security requirements analysis of systems and designs. Identifying technical gaps and providing solution recommendations for IT services acquisition, development, migration, implementation, and monitoring. Explaining security controls/requirements and guidance to the System Owners and System Teams and recommending implementation strategies. Identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation alternatives for POA&M items. Reviewing security test results to identify weaknesses, technical flaws, and vulnerabilities. Reviewing IT system SLAs for compliance to requirements. Recommending technical process improvements for the A&A process.
BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
• BS/BA in related field such as Computer Science, Communications, English, or Technical Writing 3-5 years proven experience working in a technical writing position
• Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style or Microsoft Style Guide for Technical Publications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
• Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
• Experience with FISMA and RMF/A&A processes
• Experience with NIST SP (800-27, 30, 37, 53, 60, 137, 144, 145), FIPS (199, 200), CNSSI 1253
Desirable: Security +, CCSP, GCIA, CEH, OSCP or other related security certifications
Role requires candidates have an active Top Secret clearance
