Manage recruitment for all aspects of the Summer Internship Program (bank-wide), the Operations Development Program (serving the Banking Services & Customer Asset Management divisions) and other campus-related hiring as assigned. Develop relationships with target schools across the footprint and beyond. Manage the candidate lifecycle including identifying, qualifying, interviewing and managing targeted candidates to produce a best-in-class, diverse slate of talent to meet / exceed M&T's internal client expectations, in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Attract talent to M&T Bank's Campus Programs at targeted colleges/universities
  • Build/maintain relationships with campus personnel to ensure career placement offices have a thorough understanding of M&T and our Campus programs
  • Collaborate with M&T Bank's business line managers on talent needs and proactively guide the business line towards executing a successful recruitment strategy
  • Develop and maintain talent pipelines with skill sets appropriate for Campus programs
  • Utilize a broad spectrum of recruiting tools and techniques including vendors (Handshake, Symplicity, etc.), networking (in person and online), major diversity partners and conferences, employee referrals, email blasts, and more
  • Apply advanced behavioral interviewing techniques and utilize assessments to ensure talent has the right skills, competencies and motivation to succeed at M&T
  • Pre-select, interview and identify talent for career opportunities throughout the corporation's footprint
  • Facilitate Summer Internship programming (onboarding, orientation, guest speakers, events, etc.)
  • Develop solid working relationships with candidates, line managers, program alumni, Training & Development, outside vendors, as well as peers
  • Manage campus promotional events (e.g., career fairs, lunches, receptions, and other campus events)
  • Ensure applicant information in the candidate database is compliant with bank policies
  • Develop reports and special projects as assigned
  • Counsel line managers on recommended compensation packages
  • Negotiate, extend offers and effectively close the candidate
  • Adhere to government regulations, organizational policies, and system/data integrity
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Scope of Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with M&T management, employees, external applicants and community contacts

Education and Experience Required:

  • College Degree or applicable progressive experience in recruiting may be considered in lieu of education
  • Minimum two years total recruitment experience and/or relevant business line experience
  • Strong sales ability, persuasion and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and engagements simultaneously
  • Ability to function in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Proactive approach and proven ability to remain diligent on searches
  • Experience with identifying passive job seekers
  • Sound experience showing fast response time, consistency and success
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers and related software programs with internet experience
  • Superior consultative skills and ability to influence decisions

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Experience working for Human Resources within a corporate environment, or higher education/career center/admissions environment
  • Demonstrated ability in cold calling, name generation and networking
  • Experience with Human Resources applicant tracking systems a plus
  • Demonstrated recruitment success in acquiring niche talent
