Company seeks to recruit a highly talented SVP and Chief Strategy Officer to help extend its position as a leader and effective disruptor in the adult learning industry. Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Strategy Officer will be a strong thought leader who can drive the design, planning, execution and integration of the organization's business strategies. He/she/they will bring a keen understanding of market trends and consumer needs and will help architect how Company will capture opportunities in a rapidly changing marketplace. Company has a unique brand and a set of businesses and this role will be instrumental in leveraging these assets and shaping the strategy to capture and drive compelling growth initiatives.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with leaders to align and integrate business unit and functional strategies within the context of the organization's enterprise strategy. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a diverse background and success stories that will:

  • Lead creation of 3-5-year corporate strategic plan and development of strategic agenda for C-level strategy committee, including business portfolio analysis, new opportunity assessments and recommendations, long range trend assessment, 3-5-year goal setting and growth priorities, market and competitor analysis, and innovation portfolio
  • Identify and lead initiatives to grow revenue, including cross-business unit market opportunities and innovative new service offerings, for Company to acquire or grow organically
  • Develop a rigorous process for evaluating strategic opportunities and risks associated with major M&A and strategic alliances
  • Develop strategic perspectives and make recommendations on new market opportunities including sizing and assessing markets, identifying the risk/benefits of opportunities and implications
  • In partnership with other senior executives, define how the company sets business targets and allocates capital in support of the company's long-term strategy
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and facilitate executive committee's and Board's strategic thinking; create strategy presentations for the executive strategy committee and the Company Board of Directors. Oversee and manage senior leadership team-initiated strategy projects
  • Develop and implement metrics to measure performance and progress towards strategic goals, ensuring that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve desired results

  • Proven ability to identify and track emerging market/industry trends
  • Project management skills with ability to manage multiple programs through a team-based approached in a fast-paced environment for on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Proven leadership and management skills - self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational and motivational skills including the ability to influence and drive change
  • Strong business acumen and commercial orientation
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Autonomous in getting things done

Ideal Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution required
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred
  • 10+ years of work experience in strategy consulting and/or strategy planning roles
  • 3+ years at top-tier management consulting firm preferred
  • Project management experience, providing strategic leadership for multiple programs simultaneously in a cross-functional business
  • Relationship management and leadership experience, including working with cross-functional business partners and senior leadership, communicating with both technical and non-technical resources
