Wood is currently recruiting for a Natural Systems Stream Restoration - Water Resources Engineer to join our dynamic Natural Stream System Team in Florida.

Are you a water resources engineer who enjoys project design, especially in support of ecosystem restoration and more specifically in stream channel restoration in natural settings, more specifically in Rivers, Streams and Channel? Are you looking for an opportunity to work with an international company in Florida, with an established team of leading stream restoration professionals? We have an excellent opportunity for a design engineer focused on technical problems, particularly natural stream and ecosystem restoration. In this position, you will design and analyze engineering projects and assist in managing tasks. Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate and learn with a team of engineers and scientists
  • Deliver quality products to clients on schedule
  • Conduct both field and office tasks associated with water-resources projects, particularly natural channel, stream and ecosystem restoration projects
  • Use relevant hydraulic and design software and technology
  • Understand stream hydrology
  • Prepare design calculations for restoration projects
  • Classify streams based on measurements and understanding of Geomorphic principals
  • Assist with preparation of construction bid documents, technical documents, and permit applications
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Commit to our "Beyond Zero" safety program


Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
  • Minimum three (3) years of post-baccalaureate experience in engineering, particularly in wetland or stream restoration
  • Obtained EIT certification and working towards obtaining PE
  • Skilled communicator (oral and written) of technical information
  • Travel, as necessary; primarily within Florida
  • Clean drug screen
  • Successful background check
  • Safe driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • The position will be based in Florida. Flexibility to work remotely
  • Proficiency in using the Suite of MS Office products
  • Strong oral and written communication skills


Additional Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or degrees in engineering
  • Understanding of Rosgen System strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Florida hydrology and Florida water-resources issues
  • Knowledge of fluvial geomorphology
  • Natural System project experience in Florida
  • Experience with the following numerical models a plus: ICPR, HEC-RAS, MODFLOW, FLOWSED/POWERSED
