Position Overview

As a Senior Accountant in the Project and Financial Accounting group, you will be primarily responsible for key accounting and reporting-related roles within the department with the opportunity to own the preparation of the income tax provision. You will be a key member in an evolving accounting department function focused on supporting operational and financial decision-makers.

This position is based out of Kiewit Plaza at 3555 Farnam Street in Omaha, NE. This is a corporate office environment in a professional office setting.


Prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports for accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Assist in various project and financial accounting tasks as part of the quarterly and year-end close processes
Assist project and financial accounting managers with other accounting-related matters, ad hoc requests, and special projects
Review work of other accountants in the department
Support internal and external auditors as needed
Collaborate with other home office and district departments as necessary
Prepare footnotes for parent and subsidiary financial statements
Own the preparation of the annual and quarterly income tax provision under U.S. GAAP, ASC 740
Own the preparation of the consolidated effective tax rate, forecasts, and related analysis
Prepare reconciliation of deferred tax asset/liability calculations

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
2+ years of experience in public accounting (audit or tax)
Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyze underlying principles, reasons or facts surrounding financial reports
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate within accounting and tax departments
Ability to quickly adapt to field-based operational practices
Excellent organizational skills, including ability to plan and prioritize work, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Understanding of U.S. GAAP
Certified Public Accountant preferred
