**Position Title:**Software Engineer 5 - Collateral Chief SW Architect)**Status:**Open**Position Description / Other Requirements:**Education Required:Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related field from an accredited college, with 14 years of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.Technical Skill Required:The candidate should have an understanding of and possess demonstrable skills including: -The ability to architect complex systems to ensure separation of concerns. -The ability to develop and refactor Java code for reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object-oriented codebase. -The ability to understand and decompose requirements to support verification and validation testing of software components. -The ability to generate detailed, repeatable, automated test procedures. The ability to extract data to support analysis requirements. -The ability to generate procedures that test functionality. -The ability to apply Agile and Lean Product Development principles as well as training others through a DevOps type environment. Background should include all aspects of the software development life cycle. Experience with Eclipse, Maven, Git, JIRA, Confluence and other open source development tools. Candidates must have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions. The candidate should have an understanding and knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System(BMDS).Background Experience Required:Number Of Year Required:14The successful candidate must possess a substantial understanding of system software design and development, Java development, Object-Oriented development patterns, principles and implementation, Service Oriented Architecture development principles and implementation, software architecture and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD). The candidate must have demonstrated leadership skills over software projects.Position Responsibilities:The optimal candidate for this role has the ability to produce creative design solutions that can be implemented in accordance to both cost and schedule, and also meet all demands of a wide and diverse customer base. The Software Architect will have responsibility across the enterprise of the program with specific focus to the Regional Domain mission tied to the program. Duties will vary, but may include any or all of the following: - Lead technical strategic regional domain planning of current and future enterprise domains including those which may introduce new service areas. - Develop and/or review Architectural design. Successfully develop technical assessments upon analysis and trade studies. - Work with customers, vendors and suppliers in exploration of technologies, services, and products to identify candidates for further exploration and development. - Lead architectural design and development, prototyping, COTS evaluation (products and services), trade study analysis, for new or changing services and capabilities. - Proactive identification and resolution of obstacles/issues affecting architectures and deployments. Work with enterprise functions to understand future needs. - Present architecture designs and solutions at customer reviews. - Lead proposal and presentation of concepts for new or changing services to leadership as well as peers. - Provide mentoring and/or guidance to less senior technical professionals.Other:Secret clearance required, TS/SCI preferred.
