Job Summary:
As an KCS intern you will participate in a internship program with our Real Estate Contract Services team working to expedite electronic record cleanup and cross-compare data between systems in order to prepare for the implementation of a new contract management system. You will also identify the unauthorized use of encroachments to alleviate adverse possession claims and future land remediation costs. You will have an opportunity for exposure to other facets of railroad and real estate management and other real estate matters of varying complexity through review of documents.

KCS interns will have the opportunity to work alongside some of Kansas City's sharpest professionals, network with senior leaders, and actively contribute to real world business challenges while learning about the Railroad industry. Job Duties Can Include:

Cross-compares data from three systems for the correct contractual billing to be transferred into a new system
Reorganize the department's files to account for change and a new numbering system
Identifies the unauthorized use of encroachments to alleviate adverse possession claims and future land remediation costs
Analyzes real estate documents and agreements, including but not limited to leases, deeds, easements, exhibits and surveys
Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

College Sophmore or Junior from a four-year college or university, preferably Business Administration, Pre-Law, Real Estate, Management, Paralegal or any related discipline
College Sophmore or Junior from a four-year college or university, with a degree leading to a career that may include, but is not limited to, any of the following: real estate property management, real estate law, pre-law, paralegal, surveyor, right of way corridor management, real estate appraiser
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Possess strong organizational skills, analytical skills, reading comprehension skills, and attention to detail
Has the ability to work both independently and on a team, and be self-motivated

Career Interest May Include:
Real Estate, Property Management, Real Estate Law, Pre-Law, Paralegal, Surveyor, Right of Way Corridor Management, Real Estate Appraiser, or Contracts Law.
