There is an immediate opening for a Project Manager / Engineer in the Design and Construction Group within our Research and Development Department. This position plays a key role in UOP's technology delivery process by insuring pilot plants meet all the agreed upon functional / technical requirements. The Design Engineering Lead is accountable for the development, training, and performance of the design group staff, and all engineering documents / deliverables.
•Responsible for the design and construction of new and/or revamped pilot plants for Research and Development.
•Accountable for the development of all engineering standards for the design and construction of pilot plants.
•Facilitate Lean Six Sigma efforts including HOS to improve the design and construction work processes in order to reduce the time and costs associated with the design and construction of pilot plants.
•Drive engineering support for R&D.
•Responsible for all aspects of project management, including schedules and budgets of multiple R&D capital projects.
•Responsible for the HS&E performance of the Design and Construction Group ensuring that all HS&E policies and procedures are followed and that pilot plants are designed and constructed according to best engineering practices and can be operated in a safe manner and in adherence to environmental policies and regulations.
YOU MUST HAVE
•Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
•A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the process design and / or construction of pilot plants.
•Experience in the design of bench or laboratory equipment is strongly desired
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Good knowledge of machining, welding, electrical and construction techniques, and practices is desired
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred
