PROCESS ENGINEER

Bioenergy Development Group a biodiesel manufacture is currently seeking Process Engineers with process manufacturing work experiences to support its forty (40) million gallon production facility in Memphis, TN. The Bioenergy Development Group's Memphis facility produces biodiesel from multiple feedstocks, including vegetable oil, animal fats, and used cooking oil. The Process Engineer at Bioenergy Development Group is expected to safely perform engineering tasks and activities necessary to produce quality biodiesel product. The Process Engineer's work impacts the production, maintenance, and engineering work groups that are directly involved in the plant's manufacturing of biodiesel. The Process Engineer will use engineering skills to quickly develop process biodiesel manufacturing and related plant projects (e.g., process engineering design, production management, analysis of plant consumption data, etc.). The Process Engineer role will provide technical expertise on matters of manufacturing process equipment improvements and construction design. The Process Engineer may be asked to instruct operators and mechanics on how to better operate and maintain the biodiesel plant's processes and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a continuous biodiesel manufacturing process
  • Set up, start up, or shut down process equipment per documented operating procedures
  • Adjust equipment control settings to equilibrate process chemical reactions using high level engineering and scientific knowledge
  • Draw samples of in-process material and finished products for quality and control tests using knowledge of scientific methods
  • Help plant operators or mechanics solve engineering problems
  • Consult with Production Manager and Maintenance Leader on plant's improvement priorities
  • Initiate equipment improvements needed to prevent recurring production problems
  • Lead improvements in quality, productivity, reliability, and capacity, through process improvement-Participate in the implementation and completion of capital projects
  • Calibrate sensitive analytical instruments
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies/procedures including safety
  • Practical knowledge of BQ 9000 concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Understand Bioenergy Quality Policy and dedication to consistently and safely provide quality products that meets the needs of our customers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Chemical or a Bachelor of Science Degree in a closely related field
  • At least two (2) years of work experiences in a chemical plant or a closely related process manufacturing setting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to walk for prolonged periods
  • Able to work on multi-levels
  • Can lift fifty (50) pounds

Additional Information

This position reports to the Plant Manager. This position may be required to work outside scheduled work hours to support non-routine work and plant start-ups and turnarounds. Limited travel may be required to participate in training, seminars and conferences. The Memphis Bioenergy manufacturing plant operates on a seven [7] day, twenty-four [24] hour schedule.
