The Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) Integrated Digital Intelligence & Automation Systems Engineering team is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and innovative team member to take on the role of Automation Systems Engineer in the McKinney, TX Consolidated Manufacturing Center (CMC). This position will be responsible for executing automation projects within the McKinney factory. The Automation Systems Engineer will work for the Forest Automation Systems Engineering Manager, and will collaborate with local factory leadership, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, operations, supply chain, and Front End of the business Automation System Engineers to execute automation development, deployment, and factory sustainment of automation systems. The Automation Systems Engineer incorporates advanced Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies as well as identify opportunities for process improvements via lean techniques. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge on automation technologies and Industry 4/Smart Factory concepts as they relate to current/future project execution as well as debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability and yield.

The position will be networked across RIS factories, which includes locations in McKinney (TX), Forest (MS), Santa Barbara County (CA), El Segundo (CA) and Largo (FL), in addition to operations and automation engineers from other Raytheon Technologies business units.

Key responsibilities for the qualified candidate include:

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Requirements:
  • Experience with automation systems (robots, vision systems, PLCs, data acquisition, etc.) {including school projects, research, internships or co-ops]
  • Familiar with a wide variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (ie, LVDT and pressure transducers, dispense systems, temperature controllers, DC torque controllers, current and power meters, etc.)
  • Understanding of electromechanical/mechatronic systems
  • Understanding of automation programming environments
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical design, computer vision, artificial intelligence, or other related field. {including school projects, research, internships or co-ops]
  • Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Desired Requirements:
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying).
  • Experience in automation design, development, deployment, validation and/or sustainment in a factory setting. {including school projects, research, internships or co-ops]
  • Experience with CAD (Solidworks, Pro E, AutoCAD electrical, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A)
  • Knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA)
  • Experience programming Cartesian, SCARA and Articulated robots is highly desired (Fanuc, UR or others)
  • Experience with programming languages (Python, LabVIEW, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, C++)
  • Experience in Circuit analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc)
  • Enforce application of Raytheon standards, manage external integrators during specification generation, design review, design approval
  • Understanding of Lean principles and terminology
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0/Smart Factory concepts
  • Understanding of networking and communications architecture
  • Understanding of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ISA (International Society of Automation) 95 architectures.
  • Understanding of cyber and/or cyber-physical systems security protocols
  • Ability to obtain an SSBI clearance, or candidate holds active SSBI.
  • Experience or education in systems engineering and application to automation systems

Required Education:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree with a major in Engineering (for example, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering), or equivalent technical discipline by Summer 2020 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.
