Job Description: As a valued colleague on our team, you will act as team lead while conducting theoretical and empirical research with public and proprietary data in all areas of the mortgage finance business. This may include mortgage products and securities, borrower behavior, investment and hedging strategies, residential property valuation, macroeconomic models, including housing prices and interest rate, financial valuation of finance assets and derivatives, economic capital, and stress testing. Additionally, you will coach and mentor team members. THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKEThe Enterprise Model Risk - Quantitative Modeling - Lead Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities: * Lead teams in providing innovative, thorough, and practical solutions that support business strategies and initiatives and in conducting or assessing ad hoc quantitative analyses, modeling, or programming using SAS, SQL, R, or Python. * Coach and mentor team members in utilizing data mining and/or statistical techniques to develop analytic insights, sound hypotheses, and informed recommendations. Identify opportunities to apply quantitative methods to improve business performance.* Apply advanced skill, knowledge, and/or experience while leading teams to complete modeling projects aligned with established company policies and industry-wide modeling practices.* Contribute to developing validation or testing strategies and assessing the quality and risk of model methodologies, outputs, and processes and applying understanding of relevant business context to interpret model results, monitor performance, and assess risks.* Communicate technical subject matter clearly and concisely to department leadership and teams. Qualifications: THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAMMinimum Required Experiences* 4 years of relevant work experienceFunctional Skills* Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal* Skilled in influencing, negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict* Extensive experience in a model validation role at a large firm in the financial services industry (SIFI or GSIB)* Broad knowledge of mortgage industry * Proven ability to lead a complex, high impact modeling project end-to-end; and mentor junior members on challenging modeling topics* Excellent written and oral communication skill in delivering complex technical information to audience with various background* Demonstrated experience with stakeholder or relationship management. Both internal and externally to the company * Strategic mindset with clear understanding of business operations and insights related to risk modeling Technical Skills* Extensive experience in a model validation or model development* Deep expertise in applying advance econometric and statistical technics including time series, panel data, discrete event modeling to mortgage performance modeling, property and financial asset valuation modeling* Expertise in utilizing technology tools and open-source programming languages (Python, R, SAS, etc.) to support business or risk management processes* Expertise in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand using graphical representation of information in the form of a charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and toolsDesired Experiences* Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or similar* Focused experience in artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) * Experience with Fannie Mae's business operations and policies or that of the Secondary Mortgage Market ToolsExperience using RSkilled in ExcelSkilled in TableauSkilled in Python object-oriented programmingSkilled in SAS Additional Information: The future is what you make it to be.
