The college offers more than 90 degrees and certificate programs for students seeking to enhance their current skill set, pursue employment, or transfer to a four-year college or university upon graduation.The Coordinator will develop relationships with Veterans and military-affiliated students and family members, encouraging them to enroll at the Community College of Aurora. In collaboration with CCA's Veteran and International School Certifying Official, the Coordinator will create strategic partnerships that increase enrollment of Veteran and military affiliated students at CCA. In addition, the Coordinator will promote an inclusive and welcoming culture that values and affirms veteran, military and military-affiliated students through campus programming and engagement opportunities. The Coordinator is responsible for developing effective working relationships with CCA staff, faculty, and community partners to provide appropriate student support, referrals, and access to resources. The Coordinator of Recruitment & Engagement for Veteran and Military Students reports to the Associate Dean of Students. Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills Recruitment & Enrollment Develop and implement strategic marketing and recruitment strategies aimed at enrolling Veteran, Military, and Military affiliated students within the CCA service area.Represent CCA at recruiting events and activities focused on enrolling military affiliated students. Includes some nights and weekends.Work in partnership with the Veteran and International School Certifying Official (VIS) to ensure appropriate enrollment support for students.Advise, assist, and present to students and their families on academic program options, policies and requirements, paying for college, career exploration, and other college-focused presentations.Serve as the informational liaison between the student and campus departments involved in student enrollment, including Financial Aid, Admissions, Registration & Records, Pathway Advising, TRiO, Careers Service, Transfer Success, etc. Serve as the primary institutional contact for military affiliated community members and organizations (i.e., Veteran Affairs, Buckley Air Force Base), with a working knowledge of GI Bill benefits and Tuition Assistance programs offered by Department of Defense (DoD); respond to requests for information from a variety of stakeholders. Student EngagementCoordinate support services and provide referrals to CCA and community resources that promote student success (i.e., Office of Disability & Equity, Career Services, and Counseling Services)Communicate VA rules and policy changes to all military affiliated students, and CCA instructors/faculty and staff annually.Create campus programming in partnership with the Office of Student Life that promotes a sense of belonging for military affiliated students Lead the CCA Military & Veteran Taskforce of constituent campus partners to support military-affiliated students.Facilitate VetZone training with staff, faculty, and instructors.Develop a peer mentor program in conjunction with the Office of Student LifeRecruit military affiliated students to develop a Military & Veterans student organization; and serve as primary advisorProvide information and promote enrollment in the SALUTE Veterans National Honors Society to qualified military affiliated students Maintain data on military affiliated student success and retention from enrollment through completionDevelop and distribute a bi-weekly newsletter to military affiliated studentsMaintain CCA Military & Veteran webpages and Desire2Leam course content.Partner with Equity and Inclusion office to foster equity, diversity, and inclusive excellence across campus.Supervise Veterans Affairs (VA) work study employeesMinimum qualifications & Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institutionExperience and/or general understanding of military affiliated college students Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff members, students, faculty, academic/instructional staff, and administratorsStrong collaboration, problem-solving, interpersonal, oral and written communication, and critical thinking skillsCommitment to creating an inclusive learning & work environment and demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, and staff of diverse backgroundsAbility to work some required evening and weekend hoursAbility to travel to multiple locations and CCA campuses on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basisPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bilingual (English and Spanish)Master's degree (preferably in higher education, student affairs, advising, or a related field)Academic advising experience or career advising experienceExperience conducting case management, providing interventions, and monitoring progressKnowledge or experience implementing best practices that lead to enrollment, retention and success of studentsExperience utilizing student information database systems such as Banner and EAB Navigate or a similar platformExperience collecting and/or utilizing data to drive decisions, monitor progress and write reports.Experience creating and implementing student services, programs and resources for a college campusAbility to create partnerships and identifying Military related resources and servicesKnowledge and/or Experience creating programming and engagement opportunities for Veteran, Military or Military-affiliated students Understanding of documentation needed to secure veteran/military education benefits.Prior active Veteran or Military service preferred but not required.Supplemental information Salary:: $46,995.00-$47,500.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
