Essity Manufacturing Professional Hygiene North America is currently seeking a Converting Superintendent (internal job title is RST Lead) for our manufacturing facility in South Glens Falls, NY.

The RST Team Leadership will drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity and a reduction in defective goods. They will improve costs to achieve world class manufacturing principles and practices by providing direct management of the respective area Department Operations Meetings (DOM) and Daily Direction Setting Process. Incumbents ensure issues are raised and addressed daily using the tools available. Incumbent coaches, mentors and develops individuals and teams to achieve personal, professional, and business objectives.

About the Role

The RST Lead has overall responsibility for department results concerning safety, quality, throughout, costs and productivity. Incumbent's ongoing awareness of department status in each of these areas enables effective priority and daily direction setting for direct and indirect resources. Incumbent will support the core Hygiene Manufacturing Excellence (HMex) principals of: Safety, Quality, Capabilities Development, Manufacturing Performance, Materials Savings (MSave), Energy Savings (ESave), and Strategy.

What You Will Do

Leads organization in accordance with Essity Beliefs and Behaviors to guide company culture towards Commitment, Care, Courage and Collaboration.

Safety:

Ensure all system requirements are practiced for the management of HSE&R Hazards & Incidents;
Support and drive BOS (Be Aware of Safety) initiatives and other site-based co-operative safety programs;
Lead and promote HSE&R practices within Shift/Line Crews;
Support operations area and RST teams to ensure compliance with any Return To Work programs;
Drives and supports "Life Saving Rules" and "Run to Standard" culture.

Quality & Environment:

Leads in implementing the Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality/Food Safety System (QRESH) policies and procedures to meet or exceed our customers product quality, service and sustainability expectations, including certification requirements such as ISO:14001, SFQ, and others as applicable;
Demonstrates leadership in the prevention of pollution, compliance with applicable legal and other requirements, and continual improvement of environmental performance especially in the areas of recognized Environmental Significant Aspects and Essity's established corporate sustainability goals;
Practice commitment to the philosophy that Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality/Food Safety (QRESH) stewardship is everyone's responsibility.

Capabilities Development:

Identify any operator skill gaps and provide or recommend training Provide coaching and mentoring support to the RST and Crew/Line Teams to achieve the team and their individual goals;
Actively work with and support the RST structure and actively engage with the operators.

Manufacturing Performance:

Identify opportunities to implement HMex and other Operational Effectiveness tools to improve efficiency and eliminate waste in manufacturing processes;
Pro-actively address operational losses and optimal maintenance and sustainability needs for assets within the incumbent's business area to reduce cost for current and future operations;
Facilitate and Mentor the use of HMex operational effectiveness programs (i.e, Centerlining).

MSave/ESave

Collaborate with MSave/ESave technical resources to identify and eliminate process material and energy losses;
Develop MSave/ESave strategies to benefit long-range sustainability goals for incumbents asset(s) and functional area.

Strategy:

Contribute to the development of the annual budget;
Support growth and investment goals of Site Leadership;
Apply strong Customer Focus in developing flexible and responsive Operational Effectiveness plans for manufacturing assets;

Perform other essential responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Who You Are
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Paper Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or other related engineering field preferred;
Five (5) years of production leadership experience;
Converting experience strongly preferred;
Strong sense of urgency and teamwork;
Strong communication, scheduling and organizing skills;
Proven ability in managing others as well as influencing and building partnerships;
Ability to lead teams through change and improvement;
Leadership experience with a customer focus on industrial reliability;
Proven knowledge and track record in world class maintenance safety processes;
Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment;
Ability to work and communicate with outside resources: OEM representatives, vendors, contractors, service companies;
Problem solving and root cause analysis skills;
Personal computer skills, especially Maintenance Management software, e.g. Passport, Excel, Word, Outlook.
