The Nimbus Chief Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the technical execution in the development, certification, production, and test of the Nimbus Satellite Bus Product Line. The Nimbus Product Line is a scalable, high-power, military grade, cyber hardened family of spacecraft designed for mass production at a fraction of the cost of our current systems.Job Duties: • Serve as final design authority for the Nimbus Product Line• Provide overall leadership, direction and applicable management to the Project Engineering team (to include coaching team members, resolving conflict, reviewing performance, and initiating corrective actions)• Act as a technical focal point for the customer ensuring customer satisfaction with all technical efforts including participation in customer and government review boards• Provide judgement/direction on the technical adequacy of design, analysis and testing activities• Drive coordination and integration of team members to ensure the design is properly integrated between all facilities and drive consistency between the engineering products produced by each facility• Work on problem solving and failure investigations of technical issues• Drive timely and clearly communicated decisions and recommendations• Work closely with the Program Manager to manage technical execution of the detailed program plan• Work with Engineering functional management to assure proper technical support• Provide technical direction on contract changes and Statement of Work negotiations• Drive technical excellence (by upholding technical standards for project, managing technical risks, supporting cost goals, and ensuring requirements compliance)• Champion company values, including safety, best practices and continuous improvementSkills & Qualifications: • A working knowledge of the design and production of satellites and their components• Demonstrated experience with problem solving, problem investigation teams and critical decision making skills• Strong understanding and broad application of Northrop Grumman engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)• Demonstrated experience in generating technical solutions in the absence of complete customer requirements• Management of engineering scope a s it pertains to budgeting and participation in EAC reviews• Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner• Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations• Demonstrated team leadership skills - leader of significant technical projects or investigations and management of multiple program tasks to schedule and budget Experience with the proposal process• Excellent time management and organizational skills• An understanding of program management practices: establishing and executing to budgets and schedulesBasic Qualifications:• BS Degree in STEM Science Technology Engineering Math and 14 years systems engineering experience or MS Degree and 12 years systems engineering experience• Must have a minimum of 2 years of formal or informal supervisory/ management/ team management/ leadership experience• Ability to travel 5% - 10% • Strong understanding of satellite system design, development, and manufacture• Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications: • 14 years satellite design and manufacture experience• Engineering leadership experience in satellite development, qualification, and production cycles• Demonstrated credibility with internal and external customers• Proposal technical volume lead experience

Salary Range: 155584 - 233376

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
