Job DescriptionAt Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you'll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation. Position Overview:The Capital Planning Manager will be responsible for supporting the team in variance analysis, sensitivity analysis, capital reporting, and comparison to other benchmarks. The role will provide significant exposure to senior management, and will partner extensively with colleagues across Finance, Business Functions, Risk, Regulatory Affairs as well as other functions and lines of businesses. This position will report directly to the Senior Director Capital Planning and Analysis. Our Impact: The Capital Planning division is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and optimization of capital. The team focuses on the oversight of all capital management, capital planning and elements related to risk appetite and capital contingency, as well as strategic and policy initiatives. The team's activities are focused on both business-as-usual and stress environments and ties closely with other areas within the Finance function including Financial Planning and Analysis and Stress Testing. Our team:Collaborates with the division finance and business areas as well as division risk officers (DROs) in the implementation of the recently enacted Enterprise Capital Rule and coordinates associated regulatory submissions, including conservatorship capital reporting.Drives the optimization of capital in partnership with other areas within Finance and the business areas to improve the systems and processes currently utilized to perform these activities.Develops the strategies and tools to accurately measure and optimize capital capacity and ratios and related measures.Capital Planning is a new group recently created reporting to the Chief Finance Officer and this is a great opportunity to be part of a high-profile and fast-growing team that will implement Freddie Mac's Capital Planning and Management Strategy during its build-out phase. The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) requires Freddie Mac to plan, manage, and forecast regulatory capital within the latest FHFA's capital policy framework and this is an excellent opportunity to be part of this build-out phase.Your Impact: As a member of the Capital Planning Team you will:Review trends and relationships of capital to support the Team with an emphasis on building sustainable, controlled and highly automated (where applicable) processes to analyze capital data and perform sensitivity analysisCollect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information from internal and external sources with attention to detailCreate presentations and make recommendations for senior management, Board of Directors and regulatorsAssess, monitor, and manage Freddie Mac's regulatory capital dataSupport process enhancement, control, challenge, governance and change initiativesDemonstrate understanding of internal business segment (stakeholders) and able to obtain relevant data and information efficiently for capital analysisCollaborate with fellow team members and other participants within Capital ManagementDevelop and maintain reporting templates and documentation of methodologies and execution to support governance requirementsQualifications: 7-12+ years of related professional experienceStrong communication and strategic thinking skills to engage with senior leadershipPrior work experience in areas related to analytics, management or banking with top tier firm with focus on capital analysis and mortgage portfolio analysis is strongly preferredStrong proven business analysis competency and abstract problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent excel and analytical skills, ability to synthesize complex data and present within a clear, concise, and well-constructed frameworkAbility to coordinate and liaise amongst multiple stakeholders with proven interpersonal skillsAbility to deliver positive change in complex organizations with a high-level engagement and time management skillsAn undergraduate degree is required. MBA, Master's, or CFA is preferredKeys to Success in this Role:Strong analytical, project management, and communication skillsDemonstrate the ability to build good relationships across the organizationShow flexibility in thinking as we develop new processes as multiple iterations are likely to happen before a workstream is completedAbility to quickly pick up complicated concepts and engage subject matter experts to obtain desired inputs/results for analysisAsk questions and listen while learning.
