Duties SummaryThe incumbent will serve as a budget analyst performing a variety of complex budget duties, utilizing a professional knowledge of budget principles and procedures in carrying out assignments. Learn more about this agency ResponsibilitiesAs a Budget Analyst you will: Assure obligations incurred and resulting expenditures of funds are in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations. Work with managers to develop, manage, track and monitor annual program spend plans and schedules to execute approved budgets. Monitor, review, and reconcile commitments, obligations, and reimbursable orders to assure obligations incurred and resulting expenditures of funds are in accordance with pertinent laws, regulations, and approved spend plans. Maintain databases, registers, reporting and other accounting/tracking systems employed by the organization. Build and maintains a tracking log of all funding documents in order to monitor funding processed, committed, obligated, and expended by performer, organization, and priority. Complete necessary documentation to support funding documents; creates and obligates funding documents in accordance with spend plans. Compile background and historical data and documentation, as well as projections and estimate to support the development of budget estimates and justifications for managing and projecting operating costs and budget needs. Compile, analyze, and prepare financial reports and assesses execution status, trends, causes, and resolutions. Leverage knowledge of financial databases and related acquisition, property, and other business systems to improve operations, reporting, and traceability of business transactions. Identify potential issues and make recommendations for resolution of budgetary problems. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience analyzing and evaluating budget execution; advising on and supporting funds control; monitoring spending plans; and reporting on status of funds. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
