Join our team and help us continue to make this an exceptional place to work!As an Applications Engineer focussed on systems teardown, you will perform product teardowns and competitive analysis on the latest electronic gadgets to understand sub-system and IC functions and collect measurement data to determine key behavior and characteristics. You will provide a complete analysis of the overall system, subsystems, and specific IC's, for electronic devices in categories such as smartphones, tablets, hearable, wearables, smart home, and automotive infotainment.ResponsibilitiesProvide detailed product information by identifying areas of interest, selecting analytical techniques and evaluating resultsCompose and perform test experiments to understand system and IC performanceWork closely with domain specialists in Systems, Design, and Marketing teams to analyze results to determine relevance to product developmentsDeliver comprehensive assessments of electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical sub-systems and components in a product, including diagrams for system connectivity and circuit schematicsAssess product architectures and provide recommendations for design choicesProvide material lists, including estimated passive component and IC costs/pricingAssess competitive IC's capabilities and physical analysis for analog/digital/memory structuresProvide HW/FW/SW interaction analysis, algorithm functional analysis, and protocol analysisDevelop equipment and techniques for the analysis of devices and technologies; perform experimental research to identify and define solutionsEngage external data sources/services/contractors or outsource functions as the need arisesProduce reports and build a competitive databaseKeep up with news about competitors and new electronics products/technologyShare ideas and specifications with technical audiencesAutonomously handle tasks and prioritiesRequired Skills and QualificationsBS in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of proven experience reverse engineering devices and circuits, with lab experience in system and device-level functional testingExperience with applications/technology used in electronic products such as audio, autofocus and optical image stabilization, voice coil or other motor drive/control, MEMS, sensors, haptics, wireless radios/protocols, USB or other serial bus protocolsStrong analytical, research and problem-solving skillsYou are highly results-oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are able to succinctly compile and compose written reportsYou have a proven aptitude to quickly learn new technologies and are not afraid to ask questionsPreferred Skills and QualificationsKnowledge of semiconductor device physicsKnowledge of closed loop control and adaptive algorithmsUnderstanding of kernel level coding and debugging and device driversProgramming or macro/script development experienceMacro photography and photo editing/annotating experienceThis position is located in Austin, TXCirrus Logic is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
